Crossfit Kids Classes
*8AM-9AM Saturday Mornings
CrossFit Kids is not just another fitness program for children. It’s a unique approach that introduces young ones to the principles and movements of CrossFit in a way that’s both age-appropriate and fun. Based on the same methodology as adult CrossFit, the program focuses on constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity relative to the child’s ability. This tailored approach is designed to meet children’s specific needs and developmental stages, setting the foundation for a lifetime of fitness and well-being.
Key Aspects of CrossFit Kids
- Age-Specific Programming: Our program ensures that each child receives programming tailored to their age and ability, focusing on developing foundational movement patterns and improving overall physical preparedness.
- Scalability: One of CrossFit Kids’ key strengths is its adaptability. The program is infinitely scalable, allowing children of all abilities to participate and progress at their own pace. Movements and weights are adjusted to match the individual’s skill level and strength, ensuring every child can fully engage with and benefit from the program.
- Fun and Engaging: We emphasize making the classes enjoyable and engaging for children. Games, team activities, and positive reinforcement foster a love for fitness and movement from an early age.
The training for children emphasizes safety and gradual progression to high intensity. While adults may take a few weeks to a month to ramp up their intensity, children are given more time to adapt, ensuring they develop proper form and technique before increasing their workout intensity. Overall, CrossFit Kids aims to positively impact children’s lives by fostering a healthy lifestyle and encouraging physical activity.
HYROX
*9AM-10AM Sunday Mornings
CFSI is an official HYROX Affiliate!
HYROX is a unique fitness competition that combines running and functional training exercises. It consists of an 8-part circuit where athletes alternate between running 1km and performing functional exercises like sled pushes, burpee box jump-overs, rowing, or wall balls. The event occurs indoors on a running track with workout stations in the infield.
The format is designed to challenge overall fitness by testing endurance, strength, power, and mental toughness. Competitors race against the clock to complete the full circuit quickly. The exercises are performed for maximum reps within a set time cap, requiring athletes to push through fatigue and lactic acid buildup.
While HYROX attracts elite CrossFit athletes and obstacle course racers, the event caters to all fitness levels by offering age group divisions. Beginners can take on the scaled version with lower rep schemes and weight loads. The atmosphere is supportive, with spectators lining the course to cheer on competitors.
Preparation for HYROX requires well-rounded training in running, weightlifting, and high-intensity conditioning. Building an aerobic base through running is crucial, as is developing functional strength through movements like squats, pushes, and pulls. Specific training for the event workouts, like sled pushes and burpees over a box, is also recommended to build the requisite muscular endurance.
